Carol Silldorff

Bike Maryland, Inc.
Executive Director
Baltimore, Maryland
Carol Silldorff became the Executive Director of Bike Maryland (BMD) in 2008. She is one of the founders of Bike Maryland and passionately works to encourage and promote bicycling, increase safety, improve conditions and provide a voice for all bicyclists. Carol has worked on a variety of successful state and local legislative campaigns. She especially enjoys working with business, universities and communities throughout Maryland to increase bike-ability and directing programs to increase safety for youth and adult bicyclists. "We partner with dozens of individuals, clubs, non-profits, corporations, and city and county agencies throughout Maryland to increase the number of bicyclists and increase safety for the bicyclist!” Carol has been an active bicyclist for most of her life (a bike commuter, casual touring rider, previous road and RAAM racer, mountain biker and scenic trail enthusiast). “Promoting bicycling is satisfying work as bicycling ultimately reduces automobile travel and pollution, has a positive economic impact and betters the health of individuals, our communities and the planet.”

Carol has a Graduate Degree in Public Administration with a Specialization in Environmental Management from the University of DE. She has a long history of working in the field of public administration and environmental compliance. During her career she has worked on environmental sustainability issues for non-profit organizations, federal, state and local government agencies and both small and fortune 500 businesses. She currently is a member of the State Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, the Baltimore County Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission and the Baltimore City B'More Streets Committee.
